Vintage Dress

I picked this little vintage number sometime ago from eBay. It's an original 70s dress and I just couldn't resist it.

I wore:
Dress: vintage 70s (similar here )
Bag: Cleobella (similar here )

Wednesday 29 October 2014

I didn't do a cooking/baking post for a while so here's one today. Considering I'm a sugar fiend (so very bad for me, I know...), this recipe is also from the saccharine sweet category.  Hope you like it; it's delicious and you can make it from ingredients you probably already have in your cupboard.

You will need:
3 egg whites
150g golden caster sugar
50g good quality dark chocolate

1) Preheat the oven to 150 degrees.
2) Line baking tray with greaseproof paper.
3) In a clean and dry bowl whisk egg whites til they form soft peaks.
4) Gradually whisk in the sugar and whisk til the mixture is glossy and soft peaks are formed.
5) Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over the pan of simmering water.
6) Gently fold the melted chocolate into meringue.
7) Spoon or pipe the mixture onto prepared tray.
8) Cook for 50 minutes then turn the oven off and leave the meringues to cool completely inside the oven.
9) Once the meringues are cooled, eat them with wild abandon. If there are any left (I doubt it), store them in an airtight container.

Hoop Earrings

I'm not sure what possessed me to  dust off my hoop earrings from the 90s and sport them in this day and age. Perhaps I was feeling nostalgic...
Looking at the pics though, I think I'm not gonna dust them off again any time soon...

I wore:
Hoop earrings: vintage
Sweater: Whistles (here )

Sandals: Sol Sana (here on sale )

Located firmly in the heartland of Shoreditch hipster heaven is this little gem of a concept store "Celestine Eleven".
It's founded by Tena Strok and it's best described as an alternative luxury store. In there you can both pick up a cute little number by Meadham Kirchhoff  and have a class of dynamic yoga. Art lovers can pick up a photography book or two and there's also an apothecary selling all kinds of luxurious lotions and potions.
So if you like to cater to your mind as well as to your body when shopping, don't forget to pop in "Celestine Eleven" next time you're in East London.

Bardot Dress

This is a summer dress, but with the addition of a jeans jacket, it turns into perfectly acceptable autumn dress.
It's also one of those REALLY good buys from ASOS; on trend, yet a classic and made of a good quality stretchy cotton. I love it.

I wore:
Jeans jacket: Wrangler
Dress: ASOS (here or in yellow print here)
Clutch: Accessorize (similar here )
Shoes: Christian Louboutin (similar here and here on sale )
Sunnies: Whistles (here )

It's Sweater Time

Do ignore the crazy posing and concentrate on the hat. I never quite know whether the hat is too small or my head infeasibly big. I suspect the latter. Not that it stops me from wearing the aforementioned headgear, of course.

I wore:
Hat: Catarzi
Sweater: ASOS (here )
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (here)
Shirt: Bellfield (similar here)
Dungarees: ASOS (similar here)
Shoes: Whistles (similar here)

Something New

A few of the latest purchases...
A cat shift dress from ASOS (here)...I mean...it has CATS on it. GLITTERY cats!!! How can you possibly ever go wrong with glittery cats? It's also made of stretchy cotton which tells me that a) I won't sweat in it and b) it'll last a bit longer than the usual polyester fast fashion monstrosities.
I also bought a wool sweater from Whistles (here)...it's a slightly different take  on your usual Breton stripes top as it has a sequined "Voila" written across. I also think it can look cute both dressed up and down so it's pretty versatile.
So that's sequined sweater and a sequined dress. Basically, if it glitters and shines, I'll have two of each, thank you very much...
I treated myself with some beauty products too...mostly as I noticed my knees are getting rough and discoloured (age possibly?). I heard only good stuff about Frank coffee scrub so I'm gonna give it a go. I'm having high hopes that Frank and the new Maddi Alexander balm will whip my knees back into the shape. Fingers crossed it works.

I don't just photograph fashion and celebrities, I also photograph regular folk. You know...like you and me. With that in mind, I'll share a few photos from the
late summer maternity shoot I did with this gorgeous mama to be.
Doesn't she look spectacular?

Friday 3 October 2014

We all know that I love my cakes. So there was no one happier than me when a new bakery opened a stone's throw away from my house. Yay! The Wild Goose Bakery is located in Leytonstone, East London and is run by a very knowledgeable and friendly husband and wife team.
The minute you walk in you can tell the bakery is a labour of love for them; simple, artisanal homemade food and lovingly sourced tea and coffees are all on the menu. There are breads, soups, cakes, brownies and much more...
The decor is simple but cute and the food is delicious.
I had a lemon and strawberry cake which was perfectly moist and tasty as well as the delicious latte.
I know East London is a bit off the beaten path for most people, but if you do happen to be in the neighbourhood, do try this family run bakery.
