Since starting a blog I realized two things: a) I don't want to be writing just about myself, my outfits, my likes but also feature other bloggers, designers etc... and b) it'd be cool to feature cool places in various cities around the world.
And so...behold a new blog series "Favourite Places". *grin*
The person I'm featuring today is young fashion designer Vjera Vilicnik and her favourite place in London "Navarros" restaurant.
I first met Vjera on a photo shoot for the Croatian magazine "Gloria" and she blew me away both with her designs and her personality. And since this is first and foremost a fashion blog, I thought it fitting that a fashion designer is kickstarting my new blog series.
Over to Vjera:
Vjera, please, introduce yourself:
This is a tough one...a 26 years old fashion designer based in London. I'm a girl, a girl in love. I am a happy person. I try to be a good student of life, I love dirty pink colour, I love rogalach, I enjoy wild life documentaries. I am just me...trying to dance when I'm dancing and work when I'm working.
Where do you live in London?
For a long time I was a resident of East London; and once you spend so much time in  the East, the roots are hard to pull out. It is still where I feel the most excited  and most at home at the same time.
London is changing daily and it is an unbelievable privilege to see how neighbourhoods evolve. Life took me to Central London now, where I can see ducks from my window and where I am discovering a new London "isle" of this wonderful and weird city...
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I wish there were many "me" so I could live out different scenarios.
One of me would live in the mountains, grow tomatoes and raise Coco the sheep as a pet...
One of me would move back home to Croatia and learn to bake and drive in the snow...
One of me would travel the world learning new languages and ancient history...
But to be honest, I am almost goofy happy with my life here in London, equally excited about now and about the future. Bring it on, life!
Earliest London memory?
I was visiting my sister who moved to London a few years before me and she walked me to Old St. tube station, explained how to get to the V&A museum and off I went-alone in London. I felt so proud and scared at the same time. And once I got to the V&A, I fell head over heels with the place.
Tell us about your favourite place in London?
One of them is Navarros, the Spanish tapas restaurant and the other one is Columbia Rd. flower market, magical at 5am when all the vendors start arriving and very poetic in the afternoon when the leftover flowers are being sold for pennies.
 Why Navarros?
I went on a date there and the date turned into a love story...
I also love, love, love Spain and the Spanish language.
I would also like to buy all the furniture in the restaurant...hand painted chairs and tables and big colourful dishes. The restaurant itself is small and it feels authentic. The waitresses wear red flowers in their hair! Beautiful! ...oh!...and I never leave hungry. ;)
What's your favourite dish on their menu?
Pan con tomato. A simple dish, but a firework of flavours.
 Best meal ever?
First Passover dinner in Tel Aviv, Sunday breakfast at my Grandma's and "Chez Ilan" aka our kitchen at home...
Any advice for the visitors to London?
Patience and...save sleeping for the flight back home. ;)
At the moment you are...?
Answering these questions, thinking about dinner, embellishing a belt, calculating fabric usage for the new maxi, questioning my decision to go for the lime green lace...kaboom!!! That's how it feels like inside my soul most of the time.

There you have it. I hope you like the new series. Please let me know either way. I would love to hear some feedback and suggestions on this.

Photos were done by me and the delicious food (seriously) by Navarros. :D

Statement Necklace

The temperature went up a bit today so I took a break from pulling grey hairs out of my head (Yes, I do that. I'm pure class, innit?) and ventured outside. I also took some photos (well, my husband did under my very precise and very dictatorial direction) and here's the result.
Your eyes do not deceive you...I'm wearing same old, same old, but remixed into a different kind of sartorial combination. After all, we are in a triple dip recession and one has no dosh.
One new thing, however, is this statement necklace made by young Bosnian accessories designer, Lana.  I found her on the internet and fell in love with her pieces so I promptly ordered one. As she's a one woman operation, the wait was super long, but ultimately worth it. You can check out and order her work through her Facebook page.
Now, if you'll excuse me I'll go and bother my cats with some cuddles.

P.S. I guest blogged over at Nathy's blog: Earnestyle. It's a little recap of my outfits and a mini interview so do check it out.
 I wore:
Coat: Zara
Denim shirt: Asos
Jeans: Zara
Rings: Made
Necklace: Heart.it
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Something New

I always overindulge in shopping in December and then I can hardly afford anything in January. I did manage to get a few things this year, though...
First up, photography books. Fashion photography by Lara Jade and Boudoir photography by Christa Meola. Both are amazing photographers in their respective fields. I already do fashion photography, but I'm always happy to learn more and hone my skills further. Even if I am learning from people way younger than me (Lara Jade).
Boudoir photography, on the other hand, is something I haven't tried yet but am keen to add to my repertoire. Making ordinary women feel fabulous; why not.
Next up, a dress by Vjera Vilicnik, whom I'll be doing a few collaborations with very soon. You can see the detail of the dress in the photo above. And I'll be posting an outfit with it soon. I wish I could buy her whole collection; she makes such amazing stuff.
The next favourite is not a purchase but a gift and it's a Kindle paperwhite. To be honest, I actually like the feel and smell of traditional books, but I am a prolific reader and Kindle just made sense. Especially for when I travel or commute.
So there you have it, my favourite new things.
Did you treat yourself in January? Bought stuff on sales? What are your favourite new things? Do tell.

Red Coat

I went to Zara with all the good intentions of buying either grey or a black coat. But, no, the reddest, brightest coat was screaming at me: "Pick me, pick me, PICK ME!" So I did. I guess I just have to get used to the idea that I really do like bright colours and outlandish stuff. Plus, my red coat stands out in the sea of black, grey and beige coats of other Londoners.

Latest In Beauty Boxes

I'm a huge fan of beauty boxes because they save me both time and money when looking for newest products and no one does it better than "Latest In Beauty". Their boxers are simple, no frill affairs, you always know exactly what you are getting and they are amazing value for money.
In December they came out with several different boxes as well as the beauty advent calendar and the two boxes I chose were Editor's Faves (pictured above) and Pampering Box (below).
Editor's Faves is priced at £19.95 and it contains £100 worth of products.

My favourite is Steamcream of which I am already a fan. It's  British made steam infused cream in a very generous sized tin. The smell is quite botanical which I don't normally like, but This one is not too overpowering so I don't mind it. The cream is incredibly hydrating without making your skin greasy and it's a great day to day cream. The tin pots are also cute and they always feature a different design so I started collecting them. Yes, I am that sad and have no life... *shrug*
The other box I got was a Pamper box costing £19.99 and containing £120 worth of pampering goodness.

There's a lot of good stuff here...Eve Lom, Nicky Clarke, etc...but I'm really looking forward to trying the Belleza botox effect gel. Yes, dear readers, I want my face to be permanently frozen and as smooth as the baby's bottom. I'm terrible.
There's also a mini nail varnish in metallic rich red by Mavala. And how cute is the angel packaging? I almost don't want to unpack it. Almost.
Now, if this lot doesn't beautify me, nothing will.
