I seem to have developed an addiction to subscription beauty boxes. There are a ton floating around on the UK and international markets, but I finally opted for Glossybox and She Said Beauty boxes. They seem to have the best and largest selection of products and that's a-OK by me. I also get Latest In Beauty themed boxes (when I can manage to get my grubby little hands on one), but I didn't get one this month so no review.
First up, Glossybox. I'm a sucker for pretty packaging and Glossybox sure delivers. Look at all that pinkiness and pretty ribbon. Now, I have to admit I was slightly dreading their box this month as the last month's box was awful. But this month they really redeemed themselves. This is what I got:
Full size HD Brows palette worth £19.95. Unfortunately the palette is for blondes and I'm a brunette, but it doubles up as an eyeshadow so I'll still use it.
Clynol shampoo for coloured hair (50ml sample worth £1.60). I haven't tried this yet, but I'm sure it'll come in handy as I abuse my poor hair with colouring, curling, straightening and other hair tortures.
Monu Golden glow tanning moisturiser. (30ml sample worth £3.45). I'm really excited to try this as I heard only good stuff about MONU products and I love me a bit of gradual tan what with me being naturally pale...erm...with a tinge of yellow.
The two stand out products for me in this month's box were these two beauties on the photo below.
Jelly Pong Pong (awful name, no?) lip gloss which doubles up as a cheek tint too. (full size £10) Beautiful colour and the most divine sweet smell. It smells like CAKE. I want to gobble up my lips! Nom om om.
My second star product is Elizabeth Arden skin balancing lotion. It has everything you want in a lotion....SPF, protection against pollution (God knows I need that living in London) and hydration.
All in all an excellent box and definitely worth the money. The total value of products inside was a whopping £38.2. Yay!
On to a She Said beauty box. More nice packaging! More pink! And turquoise! Yay!
And this is what I got:
Miners Phat Liner eye pencil (full size £3.99). Well, it's PHAT, but it's also kinda cheap and besides I already have better liners so this one is going into a swapsies bin.
LaylaD honey moisturiser (15ml sample worth £3.80). OMG, this smells and feels divine. I want to SLATHER myself in it. And I do. Gorgeous product.
Murad time release Blemish cleanser (30ml size worth £5.50). I love Dr Murad's products and this one is not an exception. It gives a double whammy of annihilating blemishes whilst simultaneously diminishing lines and wrinkles. Hooray!
Stylefile nail file (full size £4.49). Ok, I have a confession to make. I find nail filing akin to cat slowly scratching the claws down the walls or some such similar horror. I.e....it makes my skin crawl. I can just about bear it when a nail technician does it, but I cannot...I repeat...CANNOT inflict that upon myself. Nice product this may be, but it's going to swapsies bin without so much as a glance.
Freeze 24-7 Ice Crystals anti aging exfoliator. (1.2ml sample worth £0.60). Just my luck that the most amazing product comes in the most stingiest of tiny sachet samples. I LOVE this and I'm going to be buying it FOREVER and EVAH! It made my skin so squeaky clean. I don't think my skin even knew clean before I rubbed it with this magic potion. I kept running up and down the house instructing my husband to "Touch my skin, touch it, go on, I dare you....". He touched it. He had no choice.
Trilogy instant bronzing gel (5ml sample worth £0.50). Another tiny sachet sample. A quick glance told me that I would be able to tan either just my face or possibly one leg. Or one arm. As the two tone tan look still didn't catch on, I gave this one a miss. I might palm it off on an unsuspecting frenemy.
To recap, She Said beauty had some amazing products, but also some that completely missed the spot. Overall value of the box was £18.88 so not as good as Glossybox this month. Still worth the money, though. Especially as I was introduced to the new darling product of Freeze 24-7. Now if you excuse me, I have some dead skin to exfoliate...
